Last weekend I made apricot jam with my sister. We don’t often get together so I welcomed this opportunity. She was inspired by the season…it had triggered memories for her of making it as a child with our mother, before I was born.
The recipe involves splitting the pits of the apricots to get to the special kernel within, a tedious job but well worth the effort. The small white kernels are potent…they smell and taste like Amaretto, which takes this jam to a whole other level of ‘good’.
It was such a wonderful experience to be with her, simple and delicious, unhurried and loving. The day unfolded. It was an exercise in Being.
How clever and mischievous God is to hide potent kernels in so many ways. Hide and seek. It’s playful, feels good and invites me to stretch to look for more.
In love and flexibility.
